Krovyli

A prehistoric settlement of the Neolithic Age was revealed near the modern village of Krovyli.

Petrota

A prehistoric settlement was traced to the north of the modern village of Petrota. Roman pottery was also found together with several types of burials, some of which date to the Early Christian times.

Strymi

The ancient city of Strymi is placed between Maroneia and Porto-Lagos. It was founded by Thasian colonists around the mid- 7th century BC and it is believed that it was completely destroyed by the Maronites around 350 BC.
