Samothrace – Fortification of Chora
Three megalithic monuments of the Early Iron Age were traced at the location of Vrychos on the northern slopes of the hill. The also important towers and fortifications in Chora date to the Byzantine period and are remarkable examples of castle architecture on Greek soil.

Samothrace – Fortification of Palaiopolis
The ancient city of Samothrace was naturally fortified and only some sections of the city walls were artificially fortified. The ancient wall dates from the 6th to the 3rd centuries BC. In medieval times, the Gattilusi raised a fortress complex over an imposing rocky hill near the harbour.

Samothrace - Tower of “Phonia”
The tower of “Phonia” stands on the north coast of Samothrace and on the eastern mouth of the river under the same name. It was probably built after 1431.
