Castle of Gratini

North of the modern village of Gratini and next to Patermos river lie the fortification ruins of Byzantine Gratianoupolis. The fortress was probably constructed in the 14th century.

Fortress of Komotini

The Fortress of Komotini is the largest and the oldest monument in the city. It was probably built by Emperor Theodosius I (379-379) around the 4th century AD.

Fortress of Nymphea
