The majority of villages and agricultural fields are situated on the low altitude slopes of the eastern area, up to about 1000m. Small scale local forests of oak, beech and other deciduous species can be found, which become thicker above the altitude of 600m. The western area, above 1000m, is covered by thick forests of beech, forestal pine and birch.
