The city of Xanthi is celebrating for two weeks seducing young and old people, residents and foreigners in an endless fest of masquerade, excitement, dance and entertainment. Concerts, exhibitions, revivals of old customs, international groups’ performances and theatrical ones create a unique atmosphere. The celebration climaxes in the last Sunday of carnival. Forty cultural clubs are cooperating in organizing the carnival parade since 1991 full of satire, improvisation and humor. The city is playing and masquerading.
