The slopes surrounding the river banks at the area of the Narrows of Nestos are covered by scarce forests of oak (Quercus pubescens subsp. anatolica) and a variety of other species of typical Mediterranean plants (Quercus coccifera, Juniperus excelsa, Juniperus oxycedrus subsp. oxycedrus, Celtis australis, Cercis siliquastrum, Arbutus adrachne, Fraxinus ornus, Olea europaea subsp. oleaster, Phillyrea latifolia).

Another vegetation zone is formed closer to the river bank, including plants such as Alnus glutinosa, Populus nigra, Populus alba, Ulmus minor, Platanus orientalis and other varieties of willows.

Between the two aforementioned zones one can find a different variety of plants, like Humulus lupulus, Clematis vitalba, Hedera helix, Tamus communis, Calystegia sylvatica, etc.
