The forest is in good condition even thought the road network is relatively active in the area and logging activities common. Livestock-farming is limited nowadays only to cattle. In recent years there has been an increase in the number of tourists that visit the area. Predictions for the future of the development of the area are optimistic as long as the natural environment is preserved. The most interesting touristic sights are the forest of Chaintou and the waterfalls of Leivaditis.
