The Monument: The church is a three-aisled basilica erected, according to the founding inscription, on 15 March 1835. The upper gallery has a U-shaped form, resembling to a balcony. The three-storey bell-tower at the northwest corner of the precinct was probably erected in the early 20th century. In the sanctuary, there is an inscribed, marble slab covering the altar.
There is a remarkable large altar icon of the Ypapanti of Christ (1836) offered by all the merchant guilds of Genisea, resting on the icon-stand of the middle aisle.
On the simple wooden iconostasis, there are important icons dating from the 19th century. These are very interesting icons, not only artistically – revealing the relationship with Mount Athos – but also historically, bearing their inscriptions that confirm the commercial relations between Genisea and Adrianople (tobacco trade) as well as the presence of Epirotes in the area. There is also an interesting small-dimensioned icon of the Three Hierarchs now standing in the sanctuary and dating to the second half of the 17th century.
The wooden iconostasis is simple. The Holy doors bear painted carved ornaments, while on the upper part they form semicircles, ending at snakeheads, with shoots and bunches of grapes coming out. The solid part of the doors consists of two sections. In the upper part, small icons inscribed in frames and placed on a multi scroll shoot topped by a vase, depict the figure of Archangel Gabriel on the left and the Anunciation (Evangelismos) of Panaghia on the right.
Several silver vessels, a Holy Grail, and a processional Cross of the altar (1877) are of great artistic interest.
