The Narrows of Nestos are part of the river Nestos. The river springs from the north western part of the mountain range of Rodopi, which belongs to Bulgaria, and runs through the Prefectures of Drama, Kavala and Xanthi, with a total length of 130km. It constitutes a natural border between Thrace and Macedonia. Several smaller streams join to the main river, including Despatis, Arkoudorema and Diavolorema. The Narrows of Nestos describe the part of the river between Stavroupolis and Galani.
