It is hosted in a neoclassic building constructed in the beginnings of the 20th century, on Philipos Street. It has a “historical archives” section with series of documents, a cinematographic and theatrical collection and audiovisual material, an “ethnographic collection” section with traditional costumes, utilitarian objects, embroideries and jewelry dated in the end of the 18th century. There is also a “plastic arts” section with a picture and sculpture gallery of Greek artists, a “natural history” section with a rich collection of birds from the wetland habitats of Nestos and Strimonas along with a Library section and a Museum Education section.
