Kortopoula was brought to Filakto, Evros, by refugees of Makra Gefira, Eastern Thrace. The protagonists are a beautiful woman, Kortopoula -a masqueraded man- and her protector, Arapis. Arapis with bells hanging of his clothes and holding a crook goes around the villagers’ houses with a beautiful woman along and also accompanied by other masqueraded people, Satiri, who try to abduct Kortopoula. Young men following are singing carols while accepting treats. In the ghlendi that follows Kortopoula will be the first to dance after she changes the old clothes whe worn with her formal ones.
